Capovilla & Williams, a leader in military law and Veterans benefits, is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join our Veterans Disability Benefits Team. Details:

Job Title: VA Disability Legal Assistant

Location: 100% Remote

Schedule: Full-Time

Compensation: $18 depending on experience 1099

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for client and attorney communications


• Utilize the firm’s case management system to coordinate, prepare, and process forms, correspondence, and other items involved in VA disability claims


• Obtain statements and symptomology as necessary for paralegal and attorney


• Request, track, and organize medical records for submission to the VA and/or use in hearings


• Must be able to successfully pass a background check, including verification of criminal and financial history.

Required Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience working on VA disability claims, either within a law firm, at the Veterans Administration, or other related organization


• Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills


• Adherence to deadlines and appropriate follow up procedure


• Confident in managing frequent client communication, answering questions, and directing clients to the appropriate team member or resource.


• Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable in a remote work environment


• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Abode


• Ability to pass a background check – clear of criminal

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior service in the U.S. military or spouse.


• Experience working in a small law firm environment


• Experience with VBMS, VetPro, and similar case management platforms
