At American Engineering, we believe internships should help you explore the profession, not lock you into a single specialty. As a Summer Intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, gain hands-on project experience, and see how different civil engineering disciplines come together to shape communities.

Whether your interests lean toward Land Development, Municipal Infrastructure, Water/Wastewater, or Transportation, you'll have the opportunity to learn from industry professionals and contribute to real projects that impact the places where people live, work, and travel.

What You'll Do

• Support engineering design teams on active projects


• Work alongside experienced engineers and project managers


• Ask questions and learn from industry experts


• Assist with design, planning, and project development tasks


• Collaborate with teammates across departments


• Gain exposure to a variety of engineering disciplines and project types

What We're Looking For

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field


• Interest in Land Development, Transportation, Municipal Infrastructure, or Water/Wastewater


• Expected graduation date of 2027 or 2028


• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills


• Desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a team environment


• Ability to commute or relocate to the Raleigh region for the internship

Bonus Points If You Have

• Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D


• Previous internship, co-op, research, or engineering-related experience

(But don't worry if you don't. We're more interested in your curiosity, work ethic, and willingness to learn.)
