Job Description

A Financial Service Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced operations professional to join their team as VP of Operations.




Responsibilities:



  • Oversee and support trade processing, funding, and settlement across lending and credit investments.

  • Manage transaction booking, investment records, position updates, cash activity, and security reference data to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Investigate and resolve trade, settlement, position, cash, and reconciliation discrepancies, coordinating with internal teams and external service providers.

  • Support the establishment of new investment entities, bank and custody account openings, and related onboarding and KYC/AML requirements.

  • Prepare, review, and approve periodic reconciliations between internal records and external providers, ensuring discrepancies are addressed promptly.

  • Maintain operational procedures, supporting documentation, controls, and escalation practices.

  • Train and mentor junior operations professionals, provide daily guidance, and remain actively involved in the team’s workload.

  • Partner with investment, accounting, treasury, legal, and technology teams to support transactions and address operational needs.

  • Identify operational risks and process gaps, take ownership of corrective actions, and follow issues through resolution.

  • Improve workflows through technology, automation, and other tools that enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Support the introduction of new systems, investment products, counterparties, and operating procedures.




Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of investment operations experience within private credit, real estate lending, alternative investments, or a comparable financial services environment.

  • Strong knowledge of the investment transaction lifecycle, including trade booking, funding, settlement, position maintenance, cash movements, and reconciliations.

  • Experience supporting loan investments and credit products; familiarity with structured investments and financing arrangements preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and resolve complex operational issues from initial investigation through completion.

  • Experience training, mentoring, or overseeing junior professionals, with the ability to assume additional leadership responsibilities.
