Telecom Field Integrator
Job Description
Telecom Field Integrator (Ericsson Baseband / 5G)
Location: NY Metro Area (Field-Based)
Shift: Night Shift / Maintenance Windows (with occasional day work)
Industry: Telecommunications Infrastructure / 5G Wireless Network Integration
The Mission: Next-Generation Baseband Commissioning & Carrier Integration
On behalf of our client, a leading telecommunications service provider, we are seeking an experienced Telecom Field Integrator. In this role, you will execute on-site logical node commissioning, hardware integration, and technical troubleshooting for major baseband upgrades and site consolidation projects across the NY Metro footprint.
Operating primarily during overnight maintenance windows, you will work on-site in direct coordination with remote Switch/RAN Engineers and General Contractor field crews to migrate legacy systems to next-generation Ericsson 4G LTE and 5G NR platforms. If you possess a laptop loaded with MOSHELL/CLI/EEM, know how to clear alarms, and have hands-on experience bringing up N41 and N71 carriers, this immediate field assignment is built for you.
Core On-Site Responsibilities
- Baseband Hardware Integration: Plug into and support the physical startup, provisioning, and integration of newly mounted Ericsson Baseband units (including BB 6630, 6648, 6651, 6672, and BB 5216), transitioning sites off legacy DUS/DUL platforms.
- Software Loading & Scripting: Connect locally via MOSHELL, CLI, EEM, or AMMO to execute software packages, load site-specific configuration scripts, and validate logical node parameters.
- Network Connectivity: Establish clean, stable transport communication between the newly integrated baseband, the Cell Site Router (CSR), and remote Switch/RAN teams.
- Carrier Adds & Multi-Frequency Cutovers: Work in tandem with remote RAN Engineers to bring up 4G LTE and 5G NR frequency bands (L600, L700, L1900, L2100, N41, N71).
- Field Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve physical interface issues, CPRI/eCPRI optical fiber link failures, local script execution errors, and active site alarms during maintenance windows.
- Site Closeout & Alarm Verification: Verify Managed Object (MO) updates, execute pre-/post-integration checks, and ensure zero critical/major alarms remain prior to clearing off site.
Technical Qualifications & Requirements
- Field Experience: 3+ years of direct hands-on field engineering experience in telecommunications, specifically supporting major wireless carrier anchor builds, 5G upgrades, or site consolidation initiatives.
- Ericsson Hardware Mastery: Direct, hands-on experience with modern Ericsson Baseband platforms (BB 6630, 6648, 6651, 6672, BB 5216) and legacy DUS/DUL hardware.
- Software Tool Proficiency: Proven capability utilizing Ericsson Element Manager (EEM), Command Line Interface (CLI), and MOSHELL / AMMO command sequences.
- Network Architecture: Solid understanding of 4G LTE / 5G NR topologies, CPRI/eCPRI interfaces, and multi-band frequency deployments.
- Shift Flexibility: Fully available and willing to work overnight maintenance windows (typically 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM).
- Tools & Transport: Must possess a reliable vehicle capable of transporting field hand tools, laptop, and basic test gear, along with a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
Recruiter Note:We are actively screening field engineers who can plug into an Ericsson baseband and execute MOSHELL scripts independently. Please ensure your resume explicitly lists your experience with specific Ericsson Baseband models (e.g., BB 6630/6648/6651/6672) and software tools.
