Accounting Manager
We are helping one of our well-known clients seek out there next Accounting Manager to lead property accounting operations and oversee the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial activities across a portfolio of properties. This role will supervise and develop an accounting team while overseeing month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls. The ideal candidate has property accounting experience and thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
- Review monthly financial statements, reconciliations, workpapers, and general ledger activity.
- Lead and monitor the month-end close process to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Review general ledger activity and rental revenue reports for accuracy.
- Review and approve monthly bank and quarterly account reconciliations.
- Ensure required financial and regulatory reports are completed accurately and on schedule.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach, and develop Property Accountants and Accounting Assistants.
- Provide technical guidance, performance feedback, and professional development.
- Improve accounting procedures, templates, processes, and training programs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with property management and operations leadership to resolve accounting issues.
- Support acquisitions, development, property transitions, sales, and rehabilitation projects.
- Collaborate across departments to improve financial tracking and reporting.
Reporting & Compliance
- Review cash flow reports and surplus cash calculations.
- Support replacement reserve draw requests.
- Assist with annual audits and respond to auditor requests.
- Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Support special projects and other departmental initiatives as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 3–5+ years of accounting experience; property accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and property accounting principles.
- Experience with HUD programs is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Yardi Voyager experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop accounting professionals.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. xevrcyc
