Reports To: AMRPA President

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Washington, DC or Remote

Salary Range: $80-90k

General Purpose of the Position

This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of comprehensive communications and marketing strategies to enhance the association's visibility and member engagement. This position is an essential part of the team and will play a crucial role in promoting the many advocacy, education, and operational programs at the association. This position will involve performing all aspects of communications and marketing, including maintaining relationships with key media figures, amplifying AMRPA policy initiatives, securing opportunities for AMRPA to share our perspectives on policy issues, crisis communications management, and expanding awareness of AMRPA in general. This position reports directly to the AMRPA President.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement communications strategies to support AMRPA's policy agenda and enhance AMRPA representation with policy media, which may include press statements, reporter outreach, background briefings, one-pagers, social media content, member-facing summaries, website copy, op-eds, or other materials designed to increase visibility of AMRPA's policy leadership
  • Build robust relationships with key media figures and journalists with focus on healthcare issues and public policy
  • Ensure AMRPA is well-represented and positioned to provide its input and perspective on issues involving IRFs, post-acute care reform, and/or other issues affecting Association members
  • Develop crisis communications plan, core message framework, and support readiness
  • Monitor national, trade, Capitol Hill, CMS, and healthcare policy media for coverage involving IRFs, post-acute care, and AMRPA policy priority issues
  • Develop and implement marketing plans to promote and expand awareness of AMRPA's member services programs, conferences and educational offerings, and activities
  • Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics to evaluate the success of campaigns and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement
  • Manage the association's social media presence, creating captivating content, engaging with AMRPA members, and driving audience interaction across various platforms
  • Develop editorial calendar aligning communications with both policy milestones and AMRPA operations-focused content
  • Responsible for directly handling or ensuring all AMRPA created PowerPoints, presentations, videos, reports, website content, and other materials are visually professional and polished
  • Respond to phone and email inquiries from members and prospective members about ‎specific and general ‎association inquiries
  • Stay well informed about member organizations and relevant developments within the medical rehabilitation field
  • Other duties as assigned that align with the mission and vision of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 4-6 years of professional experience in a similar capacity, preferably association or non-profit management; Hill experience a plus.
  • Demonstrate existing relationships or ability to establish relationships with healthcare, Medicare, congressional, regulatory, and trade press reporters
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to interact effectively with members and customers on the phone, through email communications, and in-person at events
  • Polished communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with social media platforms in a business context as well as email marketing platforms
  • Strong attention to detail, follow through, proactive communication both internally and externally, and organizational and planning skills is required
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects, prioritizing deliverables through effective communication and established processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), CRMs (Word Press, Salesforce), Canva, and databases (Association Management Systems)
  • Ability to learn new technology and software required
  • Reliability in maintaining established schedule, managing time and priorities, and meeting commitments and deadlines
  • Proactive and collaborative working style

Virtual Work Model

It is preferred, but not required, that candidates live in the Washington, DC area. This position will primarily operate in a virtual work environment, with regular pre-planned in-person meetings in Washington, DC where attendance is expected. This model allows for flexibility for our employees while also providing opportunities to further develop our culture and build strong relationships among the team. In-person team meetings foster a sense of community, enhance collaboration, improve communication, as well as provides opportunities for team building and fun!

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel will be necessary for this position. Requirements include travel to and around Washington, DC, participation in AMRPA and other medical conferences, and visits to AMRPA member hospitals. Modes of transportation may include air travel, car, or rail.
