A growing, privately held sports and recreational hospitality organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to take ownership of its accounting function and help strengthen the processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure within a sophisticated, sponsor-backed environment. This is an especially compelling opportunity for someone interested in the sports and entertainment space.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity within a lean accounting team. The Accounting Manager will report to senior finance leadership, own the close and financial reporting cycles, and help improve the systems and procedures supporting the broader organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the monthly close process
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages
- Lead variance analysis and communicate key drivers to leadership
- Manage the annual audit process, including schedules and auditor requests
- Support lender covenant reporting, compliance certificates, and related documentation
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash forecasts and identify potential funding needs
- Oversee accounting activities across AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger functions
- Review and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve reporting accuracy
- Manage and develop accounting support staff
- Partner with external accounting resources during the transition period
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and special financial analysis
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and other internal teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, close processes, and financial reporting
- Experience managing audits and working with external stakeholders
- Private equity-backed or similarly fast-paced company experience preferred
- Lender reporting or covenant compliance experience is a plus
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff
- Advanced Excel and accounting systems proficiency
- QuickBooks experience is helpful
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a lean environment with broad ownership
- Process-improvement mindset and ability to build scalable procedures
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $110,000–$120,000
- Bonus: Eligible
- Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package
