Responsibilities
  • Clarify inventive ideas and disclosures from faculty and researchers
  • Develop and expand business development contacts across target industries
  • Structure and negotiate IP licenses, inter-institutional agreements, and related commercial documents
  • Support creation and growth of startups based on Cornell technologies
  • Manage long-term relationships with licensees and startups
  • Lead a team in technology protection, marketing, and licensing in designated areas
  • Mentor junior team members in technology management and licensing negotiations
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to design and implement new strategies and processes
Key requirements
  • Master's degree in a science or engineering field and at least 5 years of experience in business development and technology transfer or an equivalent combination
  • Proven ability to interact professionally with faculty, industry professionals, lawyers, and researchers
  • Ability to manage confidential information and multiple complex priorities
  • Strong communication skills and ethical professionalism
  • PhD, MBA, or JD and 7-10 years of related experience are desirable but not required
