As SVP of Content Strategy & Business Development, you will lead NPR's external partnership strategy to extend editorial reach while driving revenue. You'll bridge content Production and monetization, negotiating alliances with digital platforms, streaming networks, and distribution partners. You'll align cross-organization stakeholders around strategic objectives, OKRs, and resource planning. - Drive partnership revenue through content distribution, co-production, and licensing deals
- Expand distribution channels with major digital platforms, streaming services, and newsletter networks
- Design and refine business models (e.g., enterprise subscriptions, licensing, revenue-sharing) for sustainability
- Lead co-production and joint ventures with multi-newsroom initiatives while protecting editorial standards
- Collaborate with leadership to identify grant-funded or sponsor-driven distribution initiatives
- Partner with the CCO and newsroom leads to align BD strategies with editorial priorities
- Oversee contract lifecycle, IP rights, licensing terms, and revenue sharing with legal
- Track partnership performance, audience growth, and net revenue; provide pipeline insights to executive team
- Refine cross-department content workflows for efficiency; oversee budgets and forecasting
- Lead OKR definition and execution to align operations with company goals
- 15+ years in media business development, content licensing, distribution, or syndication
- Proven history negotiating and closing complex revenue-generating partnerships
- Active network of media executives, syndicators, platform leads, and distribution decision-makers
- Strong understanding of balancing revenue goals with editorial integrity
- Experience structuring IP licensing, copyright agreements, syndication contracts, and revenue-sharing models
- Familiarity with IP licensing, copyright frameworks, and related agreements
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and external communication skills
- Experience working with senior journalists, newsroom leadership, and legal teams to protect editorial independence
