What You’ll Do

As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your decisions directly influence outcomes. With modern technology and a strong local and distributed team, you’ll design and deliver digital products that support Securitas Guarding services while owning both operational performance and engineering outcomes.

This position plays a key role in supporting digital product delivery and engineering operations by modernizing engineering practices, improving developer productivity, strengthening operational excellence, and enabling teams to deliver high-quality software at scale. The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, forward-thinking engineering leader who balances a people-first leadership philosophy with a strong focus on delivery, customer outcomes, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop software engineering teams (including leaders and individual contributors), fostering ownership, accountability, and professional growth.

  • Champion a product mindset by aligning engineering work to customer needs and business outcomes, and ensuring teams solve meaningful user problems.

  • Modernize engineering practices by maturing automated testing and CI/CD pipelines, improving development environments and tooling, and responsibly adopting AI-assisted engineering (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor).

  • Drive reliability, availability, and operational excellence through observability, monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement of production systems.

  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery across employees, contractors, and external partners, establishing lightweight governance and predictable delivery practices that balance speed, quality, and risk.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Who you are

An ideal candidate brings:

  • A service-first mindset, clear communication skills, strong attention to detail, and sound judgment when approaching challenges. The ideal candidate is solutions-focused and thrives in both independent and team settings.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.

  • No formal license required; relevant certifications in cloud (e.g., Azure), Agile, or AI/ML are a plus.

  • Proven experience leading and scaling Agile software engineering organizations.

  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, cloud-native architectures, web technologies, APIs, and mobile application ecosystems.

  • Recent hands-on experience in at least one modern frontend stack (React, Angular/AngularJS, GraphQL, TypeScript/JavaScript) or one mobile stack (Swift, Kotlin, iOS/Android native, React Native, Flutter, Objective-C).

  • Practical experience adopting GenAI/agentic AI in engineering workflows or product features (LLMs, RAG, agents, AI-assisted coding tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf).

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to inspire, develop, and retain high-performing engineering talent.

  • Product and ownership mindset, with the ability to balance speed, quality, technical strategy, and delivery commitments.

Experience that sets you apart

Required experience

  • Technical background (must have one of the two):

  • Candidate must have recent, hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas:

  1. Modern frontend stack (at least one of):

  • React

  • Angular or AngularJS

  • GraphQL

  • TypeScript (with some JavaScript experience)

OR

  1. Modern mobile stack (at least one of):

  • Swift

  • Kotlin

  • iOS or Android native development

  • React Native

  • Flutter

  • Objective-C (to some extent)

We will only consider candidates who meet at least one of these two technical backgrounds, as these skills are currently missing in-house and are critical to this role.

Preferred experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application design.

  • Experience with C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, SQL, and Snowflake.

  • Experience with Kotlin and/or Swift and mobile app delivery at scale.

  • Experience implementing and scaling AI-assisted development practices across teams.

Additional certifications

  • Certifications in Azure, AWS, GCP, Agile/Scrum, or AI/ML (e.g., cloud AI specialties) that demonstrate depth in cloud and AI-driven engineering.

Industry knowledge

  • Familiarity with security services, SaaS products, or other mission-critical, 24/7 operational environments where reliability and compliance are key.

Other nice to have qualifications

  • Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD platforms.

  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools, and DevEx analytics platforms.

  • Background in building or integrating AI-powered product features (e.g., intelligent workflows, agents, or support experiences).

Why you would want to join the team

  • Directly shape the next generation of Securitas’ digital products that support Guarding services and help make the world a safer place.

  • Work closely with product, operations, and technology leaders, influencing strategy and priorities for core business platforms.

  • Grow as an engineering leader in a global organization, with opportunities to expand scope, build new teams, and drive strategic initiatives in cloud, mobile, and AI.

  • Join a supportive, people-first culture that values integrity, vigilance, and helpfulness, with leadership committed to modern engineering practices and continuous improvement.

  • Tackle complex, real-world challenges at the intersection of physical security and digital products, including modern frontend/mobile experiences and GenAI-powered capabilities.

  • You’ll be the key driver in bringing in-house expertise in modern frontend/mobile and GenAI—skills we currently lack—giving you a unique opportunity to set standards, influence architecture, and shape how we build software.

  • This role offers the chance to lead meaningful, safety-focused products at scale, while pioneering AI-assisted engineering and modern delivery practices in a global, mission-driven company—not just optimizing another ad-tech or social app.
