MECHANICAL DESIGNER/ENGINEER

A successful and well-respected Spokane MEP engineering firm has hired Aspen Personnel Service to help them find an experienced Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with MEP consulting experience who wants to take on increasing design responsibility while working on a diverse mix of commercial, healthcare, educational, industrial, institutional and multi-family projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with the design and production of mechanical and piping systems for construction projects
• Develop system layouts and construction documents under the direction of engineers and project managers
• Design and draft domestic water, sanitary waste, vent, storm drainage, natural gas and specialty piping systems
• Assist with equipment selection, pipe sizing, fixture calculations and code compliance
• Produce accurate project drawings using Revit and AutoCAD
• Coordinate systems with architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines
• Participate in design meetings and project coordination reviews
• Manage responsibilities across multiple projects while meeting quality and scheduling expectations
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors and internal project teams
• Assist with RFIs, submittals and construction-related questions
• Perform site observations and field verification as needed
• Maintain organized project documentation
• Continue developing knowledge of mechanical systems, building codes and industry standards
• Participate in quality control and process improvement efforts

Skills and Experience:

• 3–5+ years of experience working in an MEP consulting engineering environment
• Associate, technical or bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Proficient with AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of Revit
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and building construction
• Familiarity with IPC, UPC and applicable building codes
• Organized and detail oriented
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with commercial, healthcare, educational, industrial or multi-family projects a plus
• Knowledge of medical gas, compressed air, fuel oil or specialty piping systems a plus
• Bluebeam, Navisworks or mechanical calculation software experience a plus
• EIT certification or interest in pursuing engineering licensure a plus
• Field or construction coordination experience a plus

Compensation:

• $85K – $110K DOE
