Our client is seeking a highly motivated Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support the financial reporting process for a growing manufacturing organization. This individual will play a key role in managing the month-end close, maintaining internal controls, analyzing manufacturing costs, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to drive process improvements across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial statements.
• Oversee general ledger activities and ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory transactions, variances, and production expenses.
• Monitor inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes.
• Review and maintain standard costs and support cost accounting functions.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other accounting staff as applicable.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Partner with operations, production, and supply chain teams to improve financial visibility and operational efficiency.
• Assist with external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Support ERP system enhancements, implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and management reporting as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing operations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• CPA designation is a plus.

• Manufacturing, distribution, or industrial industry experience.
• Standard costing and variance analysis.
• Inventory controls and physical inventory management.
• Multi-site or multi-entity accounting environment.
