Business Banking Underwriter IV

In this role you assess and decision commercial loan applications for Business Banking, focusing on complex credits up to $10MM. You work within the underwriting team to maintain a productive pipeline and uphold lending policies. You collaborate with credit and risk teams to meet department goals while shaping risk-aware decisions. The position offers leadership opportunities, including mentoring newer hires and supporting multiple underwriting positions. You will enable sound credit outcomes in a dynamic, client-focused environment.

• Maintain an individual pipeline of Business Banking loan opportunities
• Review financial and credit information to determine creditworthiness and policy compliance
• Underwrite complex credits up to $10MM with single approval authority up to $4MM
• Assess risk profile of borrowers
• Train and mentor new hires and support UWI, UW II & UW III job families
• Back up manager for team huddles, meetings, and external representation as needed
• Collaborate with credit and segment risk to achieve department goals
• Perform other duties as assigned

• 7+ years of business or commercial underwriting experience in a centralized lending environment
• Ability to underwrite exposures in excess of $4MM
• Previous authority to underwrite and decision credits without additional signers
• Professional communication and interaction across organizational levels
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet resources
• Strong customer service orientation, motivation, and goal focus
• Excellent written and verbal communication, grammar, and demeanor
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, planning and follow-up
