Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager

Role Description The Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Yakima, WA. This position oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance and food safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring production processes, conducting inspections and audits, reviewing documentation, and investigating non-conformances to drive corrective and preventive actions. The manager collaborates closely with operations, maintenance, and management to train staff on quality and safety procedures, maintain certifications, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role is expected to provide leadership on food safety culture, respond to customer and regulatory inquiries, and prepare reports and metrics related to product quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Quality Assurance and Quality Management, with experience leading quality programs in a manufacturing or food processing environment.


• Demonstrated expertise in Food Safety and Food Manufacturing, including knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and relevant federal and state regulations.


• Experience in the Food & Beverage sector, preferably with processed fruit or similar products, and familiarity with industry standards and third-party audits.


• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.


• Ability to analyze data, interpret test results, and use quality metrics to identify trends and drive process improvements.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train team members and collaborate across departments.


• Proficiency in documentation, report writing, and using software systems for quality and compliance recordkeeping.


• Leadership skills with a focus on fostering a proactive food safety and quality culture; prior supervisory or team lead experience is beneficial.


• Strong customer service skills. Ability to prepare complete ,and lead audits.
