CPA - Tax and Accounting Advisor

We are seeking an experienced Certified Public Accountant to manage an assigned client base and provide comprehensive tax, accounting, and advisory services. This position requires a strong working knowledge of federal and state tax law, business accounting, financial reporting, and proactive tax planning.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing both individual and business clients, preparing complex tax returns, reviewing financial records, and advising clients throughout the year—not only during tax season.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including:
• • Form 1040 – Individual Income Tax Returns
  • Form 1120 – C Corporation Returns
  • Form 1120-S – S Corporation Returns
  • Form 990 – Tax-Exempt Organization Returns
  • Form 709 – Gift Tax Returns
• Manage an established and assigned portfolio of individual, business, and nonprofit clients.
• Provide year-round tax planning and advisory services.
• Research and interpret current federal and state tax laws.
• Identify tax-saving opportunities and recommend appropriate business and tax strategies.
• Review general ledgers, trial balances, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Prepare and review adjusting and closing journal entries.
• Review financial statements for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Assist clients with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
• Analyze financial performance, cash flow, and operating results to provide practical business guidance.
• Advise clients regarding entity selection, reasonable compensation, distributions, estimated taxes, and other business tax matters.
• Coordinate bookkeeping records with tax-return reporting and resolve discrepancies before filing.
• Respond to IRS and state tax notices and represent clients in tax-related matters when appropriate.
• Review depreciation schedules, shareholder and partner basis, retained earnings, officer loans, and equity transactions.
• Assist with tax projections, budgeting, forecasting, and other financial advisory services.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential client records.
• Communicate complex accounting and tax matters clearly to clients and firm personnel.
• Monitor filing deadlines, estimated tax requirements, extensions, and other compliance obligations.
• Support and guide accounting and tax staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license in good standing.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax law.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 990, and 709.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial reporting.
• Experience reviewing general ledgers, financial statements, reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries.
• Experience providing tax-planning, accounting, and business advisory services.
• Ability to independently manage an assigned client base and maintain strong client relationships.
• Experience with multistate taxation and complex individual and business returns is preferred.
• Experience with financial statement preparation, compilations, or reviews is a plus.
• Strong tax-research, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of accuracy, professionalism, discretion, and client-service focus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet firm and regulatory deadlines.
