Position Summary
Turn Your SolidWorks Skills Into Real-World Engineering Solutions!
Do you enjoy transforming engineering concepts into precise mechanical drawings and 3D models? Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your design skills while working with specialized industrial equipment?
We are looking for a Mechanical Drafter to join our engineering team in Sun Valley, California! You'll work directly with an experienced Mechanical Designer, supporting the development of precision welding and automation equipment used across industries such as aerospace, semiconductor, power generation, and pharmaceuticals.
You don't need to know all our internal processes from day one. We're willing to train the right candidate on our design standards and workflows. If you have SolidWorks experience, a strong foundation in mechanical drafting, and a willingness to learn, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your career.
What You'll Do

  • Create and update 2D mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and 3D models using SolidWorks.
  • Translate sketches, design concepts, and engineering markups into accurate technical drawings.
  • Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and drawing documentation.
  • Apply dimensioning, tolerancing, and basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Assist with engineering changes and maintain drawing revisions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs are accurate and ready for production.
  • Learn and apply Polysoude's internal drafting standards and design processes.
  • Support the engineering team with additional drafting and documentation tasks as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience with SolidWorks is essential.
  • Approximately 1–3 years of mechanical drafting, CAD design, or related experience preferred; candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate solid SolidWorks skills and the ability to learn.
  • Knowledge of mechanical drawing fundamentals, including dimensions, tolerances, and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Associate degree, technical certificate in Mechanical Drafting or Mechanical Design, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, take direction, and develop technical skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Additional experience that's a plus:

  • GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
  • Sheet metal, machined components, or welded assemblies.
  • Drawing revision control or PDM/PLM systems.
  • Welding, fabrication, or industrial equipment design.
