Swim Instructor (Night and Weekends)
Job Title: Swim Instructor (Part-Time / Per-Class)
Department: Aquatics - Kroll Family Aquatics Center
Location: Sid Jacobson JCC (East Hills, NY)
Pay Structure: $40.00 - $44.00 per hour ($20.00 - $22.00 per 30-minute class equivalent), commensurate with experience.
Position Summary:
The Kroll Family Aquatics Center at the Sid Jacobson JCC is seeking energetic, reliable, and passionate Swim Instructors to join our aquatics team. We have an immediate roster of eager students - from toddlers and youth beginners to stroke-technique swimmers and adults - waiting for dedicated instructors during our high-demand evening and weekend slots. Instructors manage their client pairings and set recurring schedules with their families.
Target Availability:
Weekday Evenings: Monday - Thursday, 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM; Fridays, 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Weekends: Saturday and Sunday daytime into early evening (flexible recurring blocks)
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, personalized 1-on-1 private and semi-private swim instruction.
Assess swimmer comfort, stroke mechanics, and water safety skills to build tailored lesson progressions.
Maintain prompt, professional communication with lesson families to schedule recurring weekly sessions.
Uphold professional safety standards on deck in coordination with pool shift supervisors and lifeguards.
Qualifications:
Background in competitive swimming, swim instruction, or water safety coaching (WSI or equivalent swim teaching experience preferred, but not strictly required for strong candidates with proven teaching ability).
Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and dependability when working with children and adults.
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain; training can be coordinated through SJJCC).
(Note: Active Nassau County Lifeguard certification is not required for dedicated swim instruction shifts).
Compensation details: 40-44 Hourly Wage
