Data Architect, Lending Domain

Position is based in Chicago, IL but open to fully remote and is a 6-month contract to start with strong potential for long-term extension

Overview

Swoon is hiring a Data Architect for our banking client in Chicago/Naperville. This opportunity will help shape the data architecture and strategy supporting lending operations, from loan origination through servicing.

What you’ll work on:

• Define enterprise data architecture and strategy across commercial, consumer, mortgage, and business lending.


• Design data models supporting loan origination, servicing, customer relationships, credit risk, collateral, and exposure.


• Guide data integration across cloud platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse environments.


• Support data governance, quality, lineage, and master data management.


• Establish secure, reliable data foundations for analytics, reporting, regulatory compliance, and AI/ML.


• Partner with business and technology leaders to align architecture decisions with lending priorities.

What you’ll bring:

A strong background in enterprise data architecture within banking or financial services, with knowledge of lending data and processes. Experience with Azure or AWS, APIs and real-time integration, and regulatory reporting requirements such as CCAR, Basel, IFRS9, or CECL would be valuable, along with the ability to communicate architecture decisions clearly to technical teams and senior stakeholders.
