The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on QA & Release Manager to lead quality assurance and

release management across our web and mobile applications. This role owns QA strategy, testing

execution, automation, release coordination, and production readiness.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical testing experience with practical leadership skills.

You actively test and build automation while mentoring junior QA staff. You have a proven,

demonstrated track record of using AI in day-to-day QA work. You have used AI tools to generate

test cases, write automation code, analyze test results, identify flaky tests, and accelerate

debugging.

Role Scope & Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Execution

• Rethink QA team methodologies and skillsets for a world where AI generates the majority of

code.

• Implement coverage metrics that account for AI-generated tests, and scale validation to

rapidly growing volumes of code and use cases.

• Develop and maintain QA strategies and release-specific test plans covering functional,

regression, integration, end-to-end, exploratory, and user acceptance testing.

• Maintain reusable test cases and regression coverage across web and mobile applications.

• Test iOS and Android applications using real devices, emulators, simulators, and cloud

device platforms, including OS compatibility, upgrades, notifications, permissions,

interruptions, and changing connectivity.

• Coordinate internal user acceptance testing with product and business stakeholders.

• Review requirements early to identify edge cases, testing gaps, and product risks.

• Investigate, reproduce, document, and verify internal and customer-reported defects.

Release Management

• Own and coordinate web and mobile releases across development, QA, staging, and

production environments.

• Manage release schedules, testing milestones, deployment readiness, and post-release

verification.

• Coordinate mobile build validation and submissions through Apple App Store Connect and

Google Play Console.

• Define release readiness criteria, including regression completion, critical defect

assessment, and stakeholder sign-off.

• Communicate release risks, deployment blockers, and outstanding issues to engineering,

product, and customer-facing teams.

• Maintain release checklists, documentation, and testing sign-off records.

• Partner with engineering on deployment incidents, rollback decisions, and recovery activities.

Automation & Tooling

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks using Playwright,

Cypress, Selenium, and Appium.

• Develop reliable automated regression suites and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines

(GitHub).

• Establish reusable automation components, coding standards, and maintainable test

architecture.

• Identify high-value opportunities to automate repetitive manual tests and improve coverage.

• Evaluate AI-assisted tools for test development, defect analysis, predictive risk assessment,

statistical process control, and automated quality reporting.

Backend, API & Data Validation

• Test REST APIs, backend services, integrations, authentication, response handling, and

data integrity.

• Use Postman or comparable tools for API validation and troubleshooting.

• Write SQL queries to verify application data, investigate defects, and validate backend

behavior.

• Validate data synchronization and consistency across applications, services, and databases.

• Collaborate with backend engineers on integration failures, data defects, system migrations,

and architectural changes.

Quality Metrics & Production Monitoring

• Establish quality metrics aligned with engineering goals and departmental OKRs.

• Define governance for AI-generated test artifacts, including validation, review, and sign-off

processes, to ensure AI outputs meet quality standards.

• Establish metrics to measure the impact of AI adoption on QA velocity, coverage, and defect

detection rates.

• Track test execution, defect trends, regression results, and release readiness; communicate

status through clear reporting.

• Use application logs, SQL, and other diagnostic information to validate issues and

resolutions.

Collaboration & Team Leadership

• Lead day-to-day QA activities, prioritize testing work, and coordinate workload across

releases.

• Coach and mentor junior QA staff in testing practices, automation, and defect investigation.

• Champion and operationalize AI-assisted quality engineering across the organization.

• Work with engineering and product to align scope, test timelines, and release expectations.

• Promote consistent QA standards and advocate for quality throughout design, development,

and deployment.

• Communicate risks, progress, and tradeoffs effectively to technical and nontechnical

stakeholders.

Experience & Leadership Profile

Required

• 5+ years of software QA experience, including substantial hands-on web application testing

in an AI-accelerated development environment.

• Experience leading QA initiatives, coordinating testing, and mentoring QA team members.

• Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and end-to-end

testing.

• Hands-on iOS and Android testing across physical devices, emulators, simulators, or device

farms.

• Experience building or maintaining automation using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, and

Appium.

• Experience testing REST APIs using Postman or similar tools.

• Intermediate SQL skills for backend validation, operational reporting, and defect

investigation.

• Experience coordinating software releases, readiness reviews, and deployment verification.

• Familiarity with Agile delivery, defect tracking, and cross-functional engineering collaboration.

• Comfort working in Linux/LAMP environments; PHP or Python familiarity is beneficial.

• Strong troubleshooting, written communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, production monitoring, and quality dashboards.

• Experience using AI-assisted development or testing tools.

• Experience with system migrations, infrastructure modernization, or data integration

validation.

Who You Are

• A leader who keeps pace with industry AI best practices and is already transforming quality

for the AI-accelerated development era.

• Detail-oriented and analytical, with a passion for reliable software and efficient testing.

• Hands-on and technically capable while providing clear direction and mentorship.

• Organized and accountable, able to balance competing release priorities.

• Collaborative, receptive to feedback, and able to lead through influence.

• Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced product environment.
