Mechanical Designer

System Designer
Pay rate: $29 - 39/hr, based on exp. level

SUMMARY:
The position typically requires completion of a formal design, technical or engineering program, 2+ years of design experience and ability to use 3D CAD. Assignments are varied and of considerable scope and complexity. Supervision is available, but work will be reviewed by peers or by more experienced designers. Employee breaks down information obtained from customer specifications, customer drawings, sketches and instructions furnished by Application Engineering into detailed 3D models, drawings with section views, dimensions and bill of material. Employee has responsibility for coordinating with others to determine whether design can be manufactured within expected parameters. Employee will also provide technical help to less experienced staff and check the work of others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ability to make layouts
Develop details
Make specification sheets and part’ lists
Uses 3D CAD proficiently (min 3 years of experience).
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Assists other designer and detailers.

QUALIFICATIONS/ Requirements:
More than 3 years experience in mechanical design.
Ability to work with 3-D mid-level solid modeler such as Solidworks (preferred), Pro E, Inventor. Ability to create specification sheets and part’ lists. Ability to make design layouts and design details.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3+ years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hours: 7/8am to 4/5pm, based on overtime
Schedule: Monday to Friday, occasional Sat if needed
Note: eligible to work from home 2 days per week, after 90 days

Permanent job - 90 day contract to direct hire
