Job Description

ROYAL PRODUCTIONS

Role: Director of Audio Visual (Sales & Operations)

Full-Time | Downtown Indianapolis, IN | On-Site

About Royal Productions

Royal Productions is a premier national audiovisual and live event production company with nearly 40 years of excellence. We serve as the dedicated in-house AV partner at venues across the country, delivering full-service production for corporate meetings, conferences, galas, weddings, and large-scale events. We’re looking for a Director of Audio Visual to lead our operation at one of our Indianapolis hotel properties.

About the Role

This is a true sales and operations leadership role, so you’ll own both sides of the business at the property: selling the work and making sure it gets delivered the right way. You’ll drive revenue across audio visual, internet and IT, electrical, rigging, and expo services, while also leading the on-site team that sets up, runs, and strikes every event in the building.

The hotel is our most important client at this property, and you’ll be the person who keeps that relationship strong every day. Hotel leadership, meeting planners, and clients will judge Royal Productions by you and the team standing behind you, which is why customer service isn’t a soft skill in this job. It’s the product.

You’ll report to our Director of Field Operations on the operations side and to our National Director of Hotel Sales on the sales side, both based at our New Orleans headquarters.

What You’ll Do

Sales & Revenue

  • Own all AV, IT, electrical, rigging, and expo sales at the property, from the first conversation with the planner through the final invoice

  • Work closely with the hotel’s sales, catering, and events teams so you’re capturing business early instead of after the contract is signed

  • Consult with clients on their goals, build proposals that fit the room and the budget, and grow repeat business with key accounts

  • Hit revenue targets for the property and be ready to speak to the results

Operations & Team Leadership

  • Lead all Royal Productions staff at the property, including full-time and on-call AV technicians, lead techs, and any IT, electrical, and rigging personnel

  • Build schedules, assign crew, and adjust as the event calendar shifts

  • Oversee setup, operation, and strike for general sessions, breakouts, banquets, social events, and expos, and serve as the on-site technical lead for large or high-profile programs

  • Walk rooms before doors open and make sure every space is show-ready and set to spec

  • Train and develop your team, give direct feedback, and recommend new hires

  • Hold the team to our uniform, appearance, and service standards

Hotel Relationship & Client Service

  • Build strong working relationships with the hotel GM, sales and catering leaders, banquets, engineering, and IT

  • Attend event order reviews and pre-conference meetings so you’re always ahead of the calendar

  • Handle service issues quickly and directly, and solve problems during live events without pulling the client into it

Equipment & Financials

  • Manage the property’s equipment inventory and coordinate transfers, subrentals, and repairs with our main warehouse

  • Prepare monthly billing, financial, and performance reports for hotel and company leadership

  • Track results against budget, manage labor and expenses, and explain variances

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in hotel AV, event production, or live events, with at least 2 years in a leadership role

  • A proven sales track record, ideally in hotel or venue-based AV

  • Strong technical knowledge of audio, video, lighting, and staging, with networking, rigging, or power distribution experience as a plus

  • Experience leading and developing a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication skills and the polish to work comfortably with hotel executives and meeting planners

  • Comfort with budgets, reporting, and the numbers side of running a business

  • Knowledge of the Indianapolis meetings and events market is a strong plus

Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Event-driven schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, along with phone availability when a hotel or client situation calls for it

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for long periods, and work occasionally at height on ladders and lifts

Why Royal Productions

You’ll have real ownership of a property and the backing of a national company that’s growing, along with a leadership team that values people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and wear more than one hat.

Royal Productions is an equal opportunity employer.
