Retail Accounting Manager

The Retail Accounting Lead oversees retail accounting activities across multiple convenience store locations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and month-end close. The position ensures transactions are accurately recorded, adequately supported, and processed within established deadlines.

• Manage retail accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows in PDI Enterprise.


• Review vendor invoices against receiving records, purchase approvals, pricing, and credits.


• Reconcile store sales, cash deposits, credit card settlements, vendor statements, and general ledger accounts.


• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and month-end close schedules.


• Review merchandise purchases, returns, rebates, and inventory adjustments.


• Monitor AP and AR aging reports and resolve outstanding or disputed balances.


• Investigate duplicate invoices, missing credits, and unmatched transactions.


• Partner with store managers, purchasing, and daily paperwork auditors to resolve discrepancies.


• Maintain supporting documentation and assist with audit requests.


• Train accounting staff and improve accounting procedures.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.


• 5+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years leading a team or accounting process.


• Experience supporting multi-location retail operations.


• Hands-on PDI Enterprise experience in accounting, AP, AR, and reconciliations.


• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and lookup functions.
  

• Convenience store industry experience.


• Experience improving accounting workflows and internal controls.


• Experience with EDI invoices.
