Electronics Systems Engineer
Job Description
Electronics Systems Engineer
Full job description
Oscilla Power, Inc. (OPI) is developing advanced wave‑energy systems that support critical U.S. defense, maritime security, ocean intelligence and offshore power applications. We are seeking an Electronics Systems Engineer to join our growing team and take a leading role in designing and integrating the electronics and control systems behind these mission‑driven platforms.
Our systems convert ocean motion into reliable electrical power for remote, autonomous, and persistent maritime operations. This role is an opportunity to help deliver a strategically important capability, working on electronics hardware that will be deployed in demanding real‑world environments.
As an Electronics Systems Engineer at OPI, you will design, model, prototype, and refine the electronics and SCADA subsystems that enable our wave‑energy devices to operate. You will collaborate closely with mechanical, electromechanical, and hydrodynamics personnel, contribute to system architecture, and own major subsystems from concept through field testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electronic and SCADA subsystems for wave‑energy platforms supporting defense and maritime security missions
- Create and maintain one‑line and three‑line diagrams, schematics, board/panel layouts, and logic diagrams
- Define electronics component and subsystem specifications, and functional requirements
- Guide configuration and programming of PLCs, VFDs, generators, sensors, and motion‑control hardware; coordinate work across internal engineers and external contractors.
- Serve as an internal technical authority for PLCs and electronics‑electromechanical systems integration.
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of prototype and field‑deployed electronics systems.
- Work across engineering disciplines to solve complex technical problems and optimize system performance for mission‑critical environments.
Required Qualifications
- US citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or related field).
- 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial automation, power systems, motion control, or related domains.
- Hands‑on expertise with PLCs, VFDs, and motion‑control systems
- Proficiency in electrical system diagramming and modeling.
- Experience with MATLAB Simulink and/or Simscape
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Candidates who meet most but not all requirements are encouraged to apply.
