Contract Opportunity: Payroll Tax Compliance & Notice Reconciliation Project | NYC

Seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Compliance Specialist for a 4 to 5 month contract opportunity with a prestigious corporation located in Midtown, NYC

Project Overview

Working directly with the Payroll Director, you will play a key role in resolving outstanding payroll tax notices, reconciling tax accounts, strengthening compliance processes, and implementing preventive controls to reduce future tax issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and resolve federal, state, and local payroll tax notices

• Reconcile payroll tax filings, payments, and agency balances

• Proactively review and reconcile Forms 941, W-2, and state and local tax filings

• Identify root causes of recurring tax notices and compliance issues

• Coordinate with tax agencies and payroll providers as needed

• Develop corrective action plans and recommend process improvements to strengthen future compliance

Expected Deliverables

• Resolution of outstanding payroll tax notices

• Comprehensive payroll tax reconciliation report

• Root cause analysis of recurring tax issues and a corrective action plan

• Updated payroll tax process documentation

• Recommendations for future compliance improvements and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll tax compliance experience

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations

• Experience resolving payroll tax notices and corresponding with tax agencies

• Experience with Dayforce, ADP, Workday, UKG, or similar payroll systems

• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem solving skills

• FPC or CPP certification preferred

Position Details

• Contract duration: 4 to 5 months

• Anticipated start: ASAP

• Location: New York City

• Hybrid schedule: Minimum 3 days per week onsite at company headquarters
