Title: Medicaid Billing Specialist

Location: Nashville, TN (On-site)

Duration: 7+ months of contract with possible extension

About the Role

We are looking for a Medicaid Billing Specialist to support a healthcare laboratory billing program. You will keep day-to-day billing running smoothly, help resolve payment and claim issues, and contribute to improving billing workflows as the organization moves toward a more automated process.

What You’ll Do

• Enter and track billing encounters accurately and on time


• Post payments and adjustments and maintain revenue records


• Research claim denials, discrepancies, and reconciliation differences, and recommend fixes


• Prepare recurring billing reports and supporting documentation


• Monitor filing timelines and ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards


• Document procedures and workarounds, and help develop training materials


• Support workflow mapping, testing, and rollout of new billing tools and processes


• Partner with billing, finance, IT, and other stakeholders to resolve issues

What You Bring

• Experience in medical billing, Medicaid, or healthcare revenue cycle operations


• Familiarity with claims processing or encounter management


• Intermediate Excel skills


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills


• Good written and verbal communication


• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and follow detailed procedures


• Comfort handling confidential health information

Nice to have: Process improvement or workflow analysis experience, exposure to healthcare billing or LIMS software, and quick learning of new systems.

• Must be a current Tennessee resident living within commuting distance of Nashville


• On-site during initial training, with possible hybrid flexibility afterward
