Underwriting Technical Associate

This role is ideal for an insurance professional with commercial lines experience who enjoys member service, analysis, and supporting underwriting operations. The position provides technical and administrative support to underwriters and members, independently handles routine underwriting and ancillary placement activities, and helps ensure exposure, loss, and policy information is accurate and complete. Success in this role requires sound insurance knowledge, attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to recognize when an issue requires additional authority or technical expertise.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL NEED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING SKILLS TO THE TABLE:

• Bachelor's Degree and at least 2-3 years of administrative experience in the commercial lines insurance field, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience, including municipal experience.


• Experience working with commercial insurance carriers or agencies.


• A valid Property and Casualty Producer's license or willingness to work towards one.


• Working knowledge of commercial insurance products and operations, including workers' compensation, commercial liability, commercial automobile, professional coverages, property, and other municipal coverages.


• Ability to review exposure and loss information, understand rating and coverage changes, and perform routine underwriting analysis.


• Effective mathematical and analytical skills.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, emerging technologies, and other related business software programs.

• Ability to handle multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet established deadlines.


• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with members, service providers, and staff.


• Working knowledge of local government operations and the judgment to resolve routine issues or escalate matters as appropriate.
