Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 12-Hour Shifts | Days and Nights Available (7:00 AM–7:30 PM / 7:00 PM–7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 23-bed Intermediate Care unit serving patients with diagnoses including stroke, cardiac conditions, sepsis, and surgical cases
• Titrate IV drips including Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, Levophed, Cardene, and Precedex, among others
• Perform and manage tracheostomy care and assist with respiratory equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Interpret cardiac monitor strips independently; monitor techs observe rhythms and rates but nurses are responsible for strip interpretation
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–4, collaborating with CNAs and a 24/7 charge nurse
• Float throughout the facility as needed, excluding the ER and OB departments

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Hands-on experience with tracheostomy care, BiPAP, stroke management, and IV drip titration
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy; a negative drug screen for all panels is required
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an intermediate care, PCU, or stepdown setting
• Familiarity with a broad range of titratable drips in a monitored care environment
• Experience working alongside monitor technicians in a telemetry or step-down unit
