Terminal Operations Manager

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, bilingual (English/Spanish) Terminal Manager to oversee daily trucking operations at our El Paso, Texas terminal. This position is responsible for coordinating terminal operations, managing daily truck movements, supporting drivers, maximizing equipment utilization, and maintaining safe, efficient, and dependable service.

The terminal supports approximately 40 trucks per day and operates as part of an established 500-truck dry van carrier with a broader transportation and brokerage network.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in truckload operations, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage daily performance while maintaining high standards for safety, customer service, and operational efficiency. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to communicate effectively with drivers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

· Oversee daily terminal operations involving approximately 40 trucks per day.

· Coordinate dispatch activities, driver assignments, load execution, and equipment availability.

· Monitor on-time pickups and deliveries, service failures, and operational performance.

· Provide day-to-day leadership and support to drivers operating through the terminal.

· Communicate effectively in English and Spanish with drivers, dispatch, and other operational contacts.

· Coordinate with maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime and maintain road-ready equipment.

· Communicate with dispatch, brokerage, safety, maintenance, and corporate operations teams to ensure efficient freight movement.

· Monitor operating expenses, productivity, equipment utilization, and service performance.

· Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency and control costs.

· Ensure compliance with applicable DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.

· Resolve daily operational issues involving delays, equipment problems, driver concerns, and customer service exceptions.

· Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and documentation.

· Promote a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

· Fluent in both English and Spanish, with strong verbal communication skills in both languages.

· Previous experience in trucking, transportation, or truckload operations.

· Prior supervisory or management experience in a trucking terminal, dispatch operation, or similar transportation environment.

· Working knowledge of dispatching, driver management, equipment utilization, and DOT compliance.

· Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced operating environment.

· Proficiency with transportation management systems, dispatch software, and standard office applications.

· Ability to work flexible hours as operational needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with a dry van truckload carrier.

· Experience overseeing approximately 30–50 trucks or a comparable transportation operation.

· Knowledge of driver productivity, operating costs, service metrics, and fleet performance.

· Experience coordinating operations across multiple departments within a larger trucking organization.
