Strategic Project Lead, Frontier AI Data Partnerships
Salary: $160k - $220k base + profit share of 1% of revenue
Location: New York City (in-person)
Full-time
Morpheus are partnered with a fast-growing AI data company that licenses real, de-identified operating data from businesses to frontier AI labs. They have scaled from zero to a significant run rate in a matter of months, and they are backed by leading investors. It is a small team where you carry outsized responsibility and grow as fast as the company does.
The role
They are hiring a Strategic Project Lead to own their most important engagements with frontier AI labs, end to end. You will take a lab’s goals for the data it needs, turn them into a scoped, high-quality delivery and run it through to completion, working directly with the lab’s researchers on one side and the internal team and partner companies on the other.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who is as comfortable in a research conversation as they are in the operational weeds.
What you’ll do
- Own multi-million dollar data projects with frontier AI labs, from the first scoping conversation through successful delivery
- Be the primary point of contact for lab research and data teams, translating what they are trying to improve in their models into concrete data specs, quality requirements and timelines
- Build relationships and trust with clients, anticipating needs, spotting opportunities for expansion and delivering world-class execution under demanding timelines
- Work with partner companies and internal teams to source, structure and deliver data, and remove blockers as they appear
What you bring
- 2 to 3+ years in a high-pressure, high-ownership environment, such as engineering, technical program or account management at a startup
- A track record of owning complex, ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders and external clients, and delivering on them
- Comfort engaging directly with high-profile technical and research counterparts, with real curiosity about how models are trained and evaluated
- Strong analytical skills: you can structure messy problems, work with data and build the metrics that tell you whether a project is on track
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including with senior external stakeholders
- A gritty, action-oriented approach and a willingness to roll up your sleeves
Nice to have
- Experience at or working with a frontier AI lab or an AI data and evaluation vendor
- Forward-deployed, solutions or client-facing delivery experience
- Hands-on work with data pipelines, RL environments, evals or post-training
- Time as a founder or early employee at a startup
Package
- $160k - $220k base
- Profit share of 1% of revenue
- Full medical, dental and vision covered
- Unlimited PTO
- Gym and workout class memberships
- Desk allowance
- Relocation bonus of up to $15,000 where applicable
