About the job

Job Title: Contributors – Geopolitical and Political Analysts, Policy Experts, Journalists (Project-Based)

Company: The Red Horizon

Location: Remote – Analysis of the US Elections

About The Red Horizon

The Red Horizon is a global digital journal and news platform dedicated to providing accurate, local, and independent news from around the world. In a media landscape increasingly dominated by corporate monopolies and narratives filtered through a political lens, we aim to counter one-sided journalism with reporting grounded in real-life experiences and based on facts.

Our mission is to make sense of unfolding events, policies, and power structures not from a distance, but through local expertise and independent analysis. We focus on providing clear and robust insights into the political, economic, and social developments shaping people’s lives in different regions. We are now focusing our analysis on the forthcoming US midterm elections, with a particular emphasis on their domestic, geopolitical, and political implications.

Position Overview

The Red Horizon is expanding its network of contributors to conduct in-depth analyses of developments, public opinion, and possible scenarios regarding the election results for both sides in the context of the US midterm elections. We are seeking collaboration with:

  • Political Analysts and Political Experts

  • Foreign Affairs Experts and Geopolitical Analysts

  • Journalists and Reporters

  • Academics (Political Science, International Relations)

  • Public Sector or NGO Staff

Assignments will be piece-by-piece and project-based, involving in-depth research, reporting, or fieldwork on the latest developments. Our aim is to understand the course of the midterm elections in the US, the public mood, possible future scenarios, current dynamics, and their broader implications. Contributors are not full-time staff; they work on a per-assignment basis depending on need and availability.

This role is ideal for individuals with in-depth knowledge of US politics, extensive expertise, and the ability to work independently to produce critical, fact-based, and timely analyses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and report on developments relating to the US midterms across various states and demographics.

  • Assess current public opinion and the dynamic issues influencing the electoral landscape.

  • Objectively track and analyze the election efforts, messaging, and campaigns of both the Democratic and Republican parties.

  • Evaluate potential future scenarios and policy shifts should either party secure majorities in Congress.

  • Collaborate with The Red Horizon’s editorial team to shape the scope and structure of research outputs.

  • Ensure all submitted material meets high standards of accuracy, relevance, and originality.

In Addition to Published Work

We believe that strong journalism is based not only on published content, but also on the unseen background work that underpins it.

The Red Horizon places great importance on background research and preparatory analysis — not just for specific reports, but to broaden our editorial vision and understanding.

Contributors may be invited to complete unpublished assignments focused on enhancing the depth, context, and future direction of our reporting. These are also remunerated on a project basis.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of US politics, electoral systems, and broader geopolitics.

  • Proven experience in geopolitical and political analysis, journalism, foreign policy research, or OSINT work.

  • Excellent analytical writing skills in English and the ability to deliver concise, well-documented reports by strict deadlines.

  • Strong self-management skills to work independently on a remote and assignment-by-assignment basis.

  • A commitment to independent, critical analysis that challenges prevailing narratives and is based on verifiable evidence.

Compensation & Work Model

  • This is not a full-time position; it is a freelance/contract role on a per-assignment and project basis.

  • Payment is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the scope, depth, urgency, and expertise required for each assignment.

  • Contributors will be contacted as and when required, based on geographical or thematic suitability.

Application Process

To apply, please submit the following:

  • A brief introductory text summarizing your background and areas of expertise.

  • Your CV or professional profile (including links to any previous work, if applicable).

  • The languages you speak and the countries or political regions you cover.

Screening Question: Is working on a freelance, project-by-project basis – without fixed weekly working hours – suitable for you?

We accept applications on an ongoing basis and assign projects as and when needed on various topics.
