Job Description

Power Electronics Engineer | Power Supply Design

Port Jefferson Area, Long Island, New York | Permanent | On-Site

$150,000–$210,000 Base Salary

U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency Required (ITAR)

Are you a Power Electronics Engineer who enjoys designing circuits and turning them into reliable hardware? Have you developed switch-mode power supplies, DC-DC converters or complex power conversion systems? Would you like greater ownership of products from initial design through qualification and production? If so, this opportunity may be the right next step for you.

This established aerospace and defence manufacturer develops high-reliability power supplies and advanced electrical systems for demanding military and aviation applications. Engineers work closely with manufacturing, test and quality teams, providing the opportunity to see their designs progress from concept into production.

The Power Electronics Engineer will design and develop switch-mode power supplies, combining circuit design, magnetics, simulation and hands-on hardware development.

As the Power Electronics Engineer your responsibilities will include

  • Designing switch-mode power supplies, DC-DC converters and power conversion circuits

  • Developing control loops, transformers, inductors, filters and protection circuits

  • Creating schematics, reviewing PCB layouts and performing circuit simulations

  • Building, testing and troubleshooting prototypes and production hardware

  • Supporting design verification, EMI/EMC, qualification testing and manufacturing

As the Power Electronics Engineer you will bring

  • At least 3 years' experience designing switch-mode power supplies or power conversion products

  • Strong knowledge of power electronics, analogue circuits, control systems and magnetics

  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout review and circuit simulation

  • Hands-on expertise in hardware debugging, laboratory testing and component-level troubleshooting

  • An Electrical Engineering degree and experience taking electronic products through development

Experience with PADS, MATLAB, SPICE, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275 or DO-160 would be advantageous.

Aerospace experience is not essential. Engineers from industrial electronics, energy, automotive and other high-reliability power applications are encouraged to apply.

The Power Electronics Engineer will enjoy genuine technical ownership, working directly with engineering and production teams to develop reliable, manufacturable products.

Offering $150,000–$210,000 base salary, this permanent opportunity combines challenging hardware development, technical ownership and the chance to influence products throughout their lifecycle.

All successful applicants will be contacted within two working days.
