Role Description Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners at Journey Psychiatry provide comprehensive outpatient mental health care, including psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and ongoing medication management for diverse populations. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting in-person and virtual visits, developing individualized treatment plans, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and adjusting interventions based on clinical presentation and patient feedback. The role involves close collaboration with psychiatrists, therapists, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care, as well as thorough documentation in the electronic health record. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in New Port Richey, FL, with a mix of on-site clinic work and approved work-from-home telehealth sessions. The position also includes maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge, participating in care team discussions, and supporting a safe, inclusive environment for all patients.

Qualifications

• 
  
• Active Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or equivalent advanced practice nursing license, in good standing in the state of Florida.
  
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, with board certification in psychiatric-mental health.
  
• Demonstrated experience performing psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, and providing evidence-based medication management in an outpatient setting.
  
• Strong skills in therapeutic communication, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practice, with the ability to build rapport across diverse age groups and backgrounds.
  
• Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR), telehealth platforms, and basic office software, with attention to accurate, timely clinical documentation.
  
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, exercising sound clinical judgment and professional ethics.
  
• Commitment to continuing education, quality improvement, and adherence to state and federal regulations, including privacy and safety standards.
  
• Previous experience in community mental health, outpatient psychiatry, or integrated behavioral health settings is strongly preferred.
