Management & Finance Director

In this role, you will serve as Arlington County's Chief Financial Officer, guiding strategic financial management and budgeting for a complex public organization. You'll lead multidisciplinary teams to optimize fiscal resources, debt, capital planning, and internal controls while enhancing transparency and performance. The position focuses on sustaining AAA bond ratings, modernizing financial systems, and aligning financial strategies with community priorities. You'll partner with senior leaders to drive change and deliver measurable public value.

• Guide current and long-term financial strategies with senior leaders and the County Board
• Direct financial operations including General Fund, multi-year CIP, and complex funding streams
• Maintain AAA bond ratings through disciplined fiscal management and sound debt policies
• Improve multi-year forecasting and link capital plans to service needs and priorities
• Enhance budgeting and performance measurement systems for strategic planning
• Leverage technology to streamline financial processes and increase public transparency
• Strengthen internal controls and advance a robust internal audit program
• Optimize Purchasing to meet stakeholder needs and ensure regulatory compliance
• Lead organizational change and communicate complex financial information to executives, boards, and the public

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Public Administration, or related field
• Extensive (10+ years) senior financial management experience in government, with supervisory experience in budgeting, financial management, auditing, and accounting functions
