Tax Preparer Public Accounting

We are looking for a Tax Preparer/Staff Accountant to join our public accounting firm and primarily support individual taxpayers. This role will prepare individual and business income tax returns while providing accounting, payroll, sales tax, financial reporting, and client service support using ProSeries, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and related accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients and support individual taxpayers throughout the tax preparation process.
• Prepare individual and business income tax returns.
• Process accounting needs for multiple clients, including writing up, posting, reconciling, and analyzing transactions, journal entries, and accounts.
• Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledgers for multiple clients.
• Prepare projected financial statements and compilations.
• Customize client reports using primarily QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.
• Prepare payrolls and quarterly and annual sales tax reports for clients.

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in public accounting.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• Knowledge of accounting principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, establish priorities, and organize work efficiently.
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with accounting software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
• Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.
• Individual tax preparation experience.
• ProSeries Tax experience.
• Strong client communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
