We are looking for an experienced, mechanically skilled Small Engine & Pressure Washing Equipment Mechanic who knows how to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment efficiently.
This is not an entry-level position for someone who simply knows how to operate a pressure washer or replace parts. We need a true mechanic who understands how engines and mechanical systems work and can identify the root cause of equipment failures.
Our shop services commercial pressure washing equipment, including cold-water and hot-water pressure washers, gas and diesel-powered systems, pumps, burners, electric motors, and related components.
A strong background in small engine repair is extremely important. Experience diagnosing and repairing Honda engines is a major advantage.
We are building our service department with the goal of becoming an authorized manufacturer service and warranty center. We are looking for technicians with the mechanical ability, professionalism, and technical aptitude to meet manufacturer service standards.
If you are a mechanic who can diagnose problems, make quality repairs, and take pride in doing the job right, we want to hear from you.
Primary Responsibilities
Small Engine Diagnostics & Repair
- Diagnose and repair small gasoline engines, including Honda and other major manufacturers.
- Troubleshoot engine performance problems, including hard starting, no-start conditions, rough running, misfires, overheating, and excessive smoking.
- Diagnose compression loss, fuel delivery problems, carburetor issues, ignition failures, and governor-related problems.
- Perform compression tests, fuel system diagnostics, ignition testing, and other mechanical troubleshooting procedures.
- Repair and service carburetors, fuel pumps, ignition systems, starters, governors, and related engine components.
- Perform engine maintenance, inspections, and preventative service.
- Identify the actual cause of mechanical failures rather than replacing parts unnecessarily.
Pressure Washing Equipment Diagnostics & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial pressure washing equipment.
- Repair high-pressure pumps and diagnose low-pressure, inconsistent-pressure, and water-flow issues.
- Troubleshoot water leaks, oil leaks, fuel leaks, and pressure-related failures.
- Diagnose and repair hot-water pressure washer burners and heating systems.
- Troubleshoot electric motors and related electrical components.
- Service and repair unloaders, regulators, injectors, valves, hoses, fittings, and related components.
- Work on a variety of equipment manufacturers, models, and system configurations.
Technical & Shop Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and equipment diagrams.
- Use computers to research parts, access manufacturer service information, and document repairs.
- Identify parts needed for repairs and accurately communicate repair requirements.
- Maintain accurate service records and complete repair documentation.
- Perform work efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service department.
Required Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience in small engine mechanics, equipment repair, or mechanical diagnostics.
- Strong understanding of gasoline engine operation and mechanical systems.
- Ability to diagnose fuel system, ignition, compression, starting, and engine performance problems.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment rather than simply replacing components.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use basic diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to navigate manufacturer websites, electronic parts catalogs, and digital service documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage repairs efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
The following qualifications will make an applicant especially competitive:
- Experience repairing Honda small engines.
- Experience with Honda GX-series commercial engines.
- Experience with commercial pressure washing equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing high-pressure pumps.
- Experience with hot-water pressure washer burners and heating systems.
- EETC (Equipment & Engine Training Council) certification.
- Vocational training or certification in small engine mechanics, power equipment technology, or a related mechanical field.
- Previous experience working in an authorized equipment service or warranty center.
- Familiarity with manufacturer service portals, electronic parts catalogs, and warranty claim procedures.
Manufacturer training and additional certifications may be available for the right candidate.
Integrity & Professionalism
At Hi Pressure, we believe a good mechanic should be known for the quality of their work and the trust they build with customers.
We are not looking for someone who replaces parts until a problem goes away or recommends unnecessary repairs to increase a service ticket.
We want a technician who:
- Diagnoses the problem before recommending a repair.
- Understands the difference between what needs to be fixed and what can continue operating.
- Provides honest and accurate repair recommendations.
- Takes responsibility for their workmanship.
- Works efficiently without sacrificing quality.
- Treats customers, coworkers, and equipment with respect.
Our reputation will be built on technical expertise, honest service, and doing the job right the first time.
Compensation
Competitive pay based on experience and technical ability.
We are willing to pay above-average compensation for an experienced mechanic who can demonstrate strong diagnostic and repair capabilities.
Candidates with Honda engine experience, small engine certifications, EETC credentials, or extensive commercial equipment repair experience will receive strong consideration.
This is an opportunity to grow with an expanding equipment service business and help build a professional service department with manufacturer-authorized service capabilities.
If you know engines, understand mechanical systems, and can diagnose and repair equipment efficiently, we want to talk to you.
Apply today and tell us about your mechanical experience, the engines and equipment you have worked on, and the types of repairs you can perform independently.
