Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough, culturally sensitive mental health assessments to understand each patient's unique experiences and develop effective treatment plans.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to the individual needs of patients, considering their cultural backgrounds.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions aimed at addressing mental health concerns and promoting resilience.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other health professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for our patients.
• Deliver crisis intervention and immediate support during mental health emergencies, helping clients navigate through their toughest moments.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, appropriate treatment options, and relevant community resources.
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, using advanced EHR systems.
• Actively participate in team discussions, case conferences, and cultural competency training sessions to enhance collaborative care.
• Stay informed about current research and best practices in mental health therapy to provide the highest standard of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily serve a diverse clientele, including individuals from various ethnic backgrounds, cultural minorities, and the LGBTQ+ community. Our clinic focuses on building trust and understanding with each patient, ensuring that care is respectful and tailored to their specific cultural context. You will play a vital role in helping clients overcome barriers to mental health care, significantly influencing their overall well-being.

Qualifications

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Virginia.
• A deep understanding of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment approaches, coupled with a strong commitment to cultural competence.
• Proven experience in delivering individual and group therapy in a manner that is responsive to diverse cultural needs.
• Excellent crisis intervention skills, demonstrating an ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster rapport with a wide range of individuals.
• Proficiency in EHR systems and standard computer applications to maintain accurate patient documentation.
• A commitment to ethical guidelines, professional boundaries, and confidentiality in all aspects of care.
• A collaborative mindset, capable of functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience

• 2+ years of experience as a Licensed Mental Health Therapist in a clinical or community setting, particularly with multicultural backgrounds.
• Demonstrated experience in providing culturally responsive mental health care, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 70,000 – 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
