Encompass Health is seeking a Senior Speech Pathologist to provide advanced evaluation and treatment for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, and other complex conditions in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. You will conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing assessments; design and deliver individualized treatment plans; and educate patients and families on strategies that support recovery and safety. In this senior role, you will mentor junior clinicians, collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary rehab team, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and support a culture of clinical excellence, compassion, and continuous learning. Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations for adult rehabilitation patients. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans to address communication and swallowing disorders. Document assessments, goals, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately in the EMR. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and other team members on coordinated care plans. Educate patients and families on communication strategies, compensatory techniques, and safe swallowing practices. Mentor and support junior speech pathologists, assistants, and students in clinical skill development. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and patient care conferences. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical best-practice development within the rehab program. Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and documentation standards for speech-language pathology services. Support a culture of safety, compassion, and continuous professional growth.
