City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor & Mentor to serve in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this full-time role, you will provide in-class and small-group tutoring, mentor students, and collaborate with teachers to reinforce lessons and monitor progress. You will help create an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment while developing your own leadership skills. Provide daily in-school academic tutoring in core subjects to assigned students Support classroom teachers with small-group and one-on-one instruction Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement Track and report student progress using school and City Year data tools Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team and school staff on student support plans Facilitate after-school or enrichment activities as needed Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Model inclusive, equity-focused practices aligned with City Year values K-12 academic tutoring Lesson planning support Classroom management support Student mentoring Data tracking and progress monitoring Literacy and math intervention Small-group instruction Behavioral support strategies Basic educational technology Cross-cultural communication Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Teaching credential (optional) Tutoring certification (e.g., CRLA) (preferred) Experience with K-12 curriculum standards Background check eligibility AmeriCorps eligibility5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
