As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve full-time in a partner public school, helping students build the skills and confidence to thrive. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll provide one-on-one and small-group academic support, mentor students to strengthen social-emotional skills, and encourage consistent attendance. You’ll collaborate daily with teachers and school staff, track student progress, and assist with after-school programs. City Year offers training, leadership development, and a mission-driven, inclusive culture focused on educational equity. Provide daily in-school mentoring and coaching to students to support academic, social, and emotional growth. Deliver targeted academic support in small groups or one-on-one, following teacher guidance. Monitor student attendance and engagement, encouraging regular participation in class. Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify student needs and adjust support strategies. Lead or assist with after-school programs, enrichment activities, and community service projects. Track student progress and document data to inform interventions and report outcomes. Model positive behavior, inclusive practices, and a growth mindset for students. Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development offered by City Year. Engage families and caregivers, when appropriate, to support student success. Contribute to a collaborative AmeriCorps team culture focused on equity and social justice.
