City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor & Mentor to serve in public schools, supporting student learning and engagement. In this full-time role, you will provide in-class and small-group tutoring in core subjects, reinforce lessons, and help students build key academic and social-emotional skills. You will collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom climate. As part of a diverse AmeriCorps team, you will gain professional development, leadership experience, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students and school communities. Provide in-class and small-group tutoring in core subjects to support student learning goals. Mentor students to build academic confidence, social-emotional skills, and positive school engagement. Collaborate with teachers to align tutoring sessions with classroom instruction and student needs. Track and report student progress using established tools and data systems. Support classroom management, transitions, and school-wide activities as part of a school-based team. Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and professional development sessions. Engage in family and community outreach activities that promote student success. Model inclusive, equity-focused practices that reflect City Year’s values.
