City Year seeks an Academic Tutor & Mentor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time, on-site role within the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you will provide targeted tutoring in core subjects, lead small-group activities, and build strong mentoring relationships with students. Working as part of a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and help create an inclusive, positive classroom environment. City Year offers training, professional development, and a mission-driven culture centered on equity and student success. Provide daily academic tutoring and homework support to K-12 students in core subjects. Mentor students to build confidence, motivation, and social-emotional skills. Collaborate with teachers to align tutoring with classroom instruction and goals. Track and report student progress using established tools and metrics. Lead or assist with small-group interventions and enrichment activities. Support positive classroom culture and behavior expectations. Communicate regularly with school staff and your City Year team about student needs. Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions. Model inclusive, culturally responsive practices that promote equity. Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on student success.
