City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects Support teachers with classroom management and instruction Build positive, consistent relationships with students as a mentor and role model Track and report student progress and participation in interventions Help plan and lead after-school programs and enrichment activities Support school-wide events, initiatives, and attendance efforts Collaborate closely with teammates, school staff, and City Year staff Participate in regular training, coaching, and professional development Model and promote an inclusive, safe, and respectful school environment Engage families and community partners when appropriate to support student success Tutoring and academic support (reading, writing, math) Classroom support and basic behavior management Youth mentoring and relationship-building Data entry and basic progress monitoring Communication (written and verbal) Team collaboration and problem-solving Time management and organization Cultural humility and working with diverse communities Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation Facilitation of small groups and activities Medical Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass required background checks Commitment to a full-time AmeriCorps service term Experience working with youth (preferred, not required)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
