City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class academic support and small-group or one-on-one tutoring for students Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and positive behavior Support teachers with classroom management and learning activities Plan and lead after-school or enrichment programs and activities Track student progress and document participation and outcomes Collaborate with school staff and fellow AmeriCorps members to meet school goals Engage families and community partners to support student success Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Uphold City Year’s values of equity, inclusion, and social justice in daily service Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture within the school Tutoring and academic support (literacy and/or math) Classroom support and basic classroom management Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data tracking and documentation of student progress Communication skills (verbal and written) Collaboration and teamwork in school or community settings Cultural competency and working with diverse populations Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques Time management and organizational skills Facilitation of small groups or after-school activities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (citizenship or permanent resident status) Ability to pass background and security checks required by AmeriCorps and school districts Commitment to completing a full-time AmeriCorps service term Interest or experience in youth development, education, or social services5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
