City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class academic support in core subjects (e.g., math, English) under teacher guidance Offer one-on-one and small-group tutoring and mentoring to students Support students’ social-emotional skill development and positive behavior Track and document student progress and participation using provided tools Assist with planning and leading after-school or enrichment programs Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and teammates to support school-wide initiatives Communicate regularly with supervisors and school partners about student needs and progress Participate in all required City Year trainings, meetings, and professional development sessions Model inclusive, culturally responsive, and equity-focused practices Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture aligned with City Year’s values Tutoring and academic support Classroom support techniques Behavior management and de-escalation Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data tracking and documentation Time management and organization Collaboration and teamwork Culturally responsive communication Basic technology skills (e.g., Google Suite, email, spreadsheets) Program facilitation for groups of youth Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for school-based service Commitment to a full-time AmeriCorps term of service5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
