City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support teachers with classroom management and student engagement Monitor and encourage student attendance and participation Lead or assist with after-school and enrichment programs Build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff Collect and track student data to inform support strategies Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Support school-wide events and initiatives that promote a positive climate Model leadership, respect, and inclusivity in all interactions Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to achieve school goals Tutoring in math and reading Classroom support and management assistance Youth mentoring and relationship-building Data entry and basic progress tracking Communication (verbal and written) Teamwork and collaboration Time management and organization Conflict resolution and de-escalation Cultural competence and equity-focused practice Basic computer literacy (email, documents, spreadsheets, educational tools) Medical Insurance Eligible to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for work in schools Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
