City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support in core subjects during the school day Support teachers with classroom management and creating a positive learning environment Monitor student progress and track data to inform interventions Lead or assist with after-school programs, homework help, and enrichment activities Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage engagement and attendance Communicate and collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, and equity-focused team culture Support school-wide events and initiatives that promote student success Model leadership, civic engagement, and positive behavior for students Tutoring and academic support (reading, writing, math) Youth mentoring and relationship-building Classroom management support Data entry and basic student progress tracking Communication with students, families, and school staff Teamwork and collaboration in diverse groups Time management and organization Cultural responsiveness and equity-focused practice Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation Facilitation of small groups and activities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for work in schools Proof of high school diploma or equivalent Some roles may prefer prior tutoring, mentoring, or youth development experience5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
