City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support to teachers, reinforcing lessons and helping manage classroom routines Deliver one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects like math and literacy Support students’ social-emotional development and positive behavior Track and document student progress and participation in interventions Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and City Year teammates to plan and adjust supports Lead or assist with after-school programs, enrichment activities, and school events Build positive, mentoring relationships with students and serve as a consistent role model Participate in City Year training, reflection, and professional development sessions Communicate regularly with supervisors and school partners about student needs and outcomes Uphold City Year and AmeriCorps service standards, policies, and community norms Tutoring and academic support (K-12) Classroom management support Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Communication with students, families, and school staff Team collaboration in school settings Cultural competency and inclusive practices Time management and reliability in a structured schedule Basic computer and documentation skills Conflict de-escalation and behavior support Medical Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Able to pass background check required for work in schools Commitment to a full-time AmeriCorps service term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
