As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year in the Educational Services industry, you’ll serve in a partner school to support student learning and growth. Working within the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you will provide in-class academic support, small-group tutoring, and one-on-one mentoring that fosters social-emotional development. You’ll collaborate closely with teachers, track student progress, and help lead enrichment and after-school activities. At City Year, you’ll join a diverse, mission-driven team dedicated to social justice, leadership development, and personal growth while receiving training and professional development. Provide in-class academic support in core subjects such as math and English Deliver small-group and one-on-one tutoring to reinforce classroom instruction Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement Track and document student progress and attendance using basic data tools Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify and support students’ needs Help plan and facilitate enrichment, after-school, or extended learning activities Communicate regularly with City Year teammates and supervisors on goals and progress Participate in City Year trainings, coaching, and professional development sessions Model a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented mindset in the school community Support school-wide events, initiatives, and culture-building activities as needed Tutoring in math and literacy Classroom support techniques Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Google Workspace or Microsoft Office (Docs, Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides) Behavior management and de-escalation basics Lesson and activity planning support Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Collaboration in team-based environments Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k City Year AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required by school district Experience working with youth in educational or community settings (preferred) Basic training in tutoring or youth mentoring (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
