City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support and small-group or one-on-one tutoring in English, math, and other core subjects Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, attendance habits, and academic engagement Support teachers with classroom activities, behavior management, and learning routines Assist with school-wide events, positive school climate initiatives, and attendance campaigns Help plan and facilitate afterschool or enrichment programs Track and document student progress and participation using basic data tools Communicate regularly with teachers, teammates, and school staff about student needs Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage families and community partners in student-support activities as appropriate Model City Year’s values of service, inclusivity, and respect in all school interactions Youth tutoring Classroom support Behavior management Mentoring and relationship-building Basic data entry and progress tracking Time management and reliability Communication (verbal and written) Collaboration and teamwork Basic technology/computer literacy Cultural responsiveness and sensitivity Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school districts TB test or related health clearances as required by local district Proof of high school diploma/equivalent or higher degree5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
