City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support and one-on-one or small-group tutoring in core subjects Monitor and encourage student attendance and engagement Support students’ social-emotional development and positive behavior Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning materials Lead or support afterschool and enrichment programs Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff Collect and track student progress data as directed Participate in City Year training, coaching, and professional development Engage in team meetings, service projects, and community events Uphold City Year and school policies for safety, equity, and inclusion Classroom tutoring and academic support Youth mentoring and relationship-building Behavior management and de-escalation Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Communication with students, families, and staff Team collaboration in school settings Time management and reliability Cultural competence and equity-focused practice Facilitation of groups and activities Basic computer and education technology skills Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for work in schools TB test or health clearances as required by district Completion of City Year pre-service training program5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
